The Events:

The Abuja National Mosque Da'awah and Welfare Foundation as part of its mandate of ensuring the inclusion of the less privileged, especially during festive occasions, approached Stakeholders from both the Public and Private sectors, MDAs, NGOs, Civil Society Groups and individuals, for partnership in providing food items for over 5,000 persons during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Many responded positively towards the appeal. Among those who donated both in cash and in raw food items, include but not limited to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Offce of the First Lady, HE Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria Army Offcers Wives Association, and several individuals who requested that their names should not be mentioned. Through their support and contribution, the Foundation's objective to provide food aid to those who are struggling to fulfll their basic food needs during the holy month of Ramadan was successfully achieved.

The items that were distributed by the Foundation, during the 2023 holy month of Ramadan included assorted food items (rice, semovita, spaghetti, macaroni, sugar, vegetable oil, maggi and tin tomatoes) in package 25kg to different individuals and families. Beneciaries were IDP Camps, Orphanages, needy individuals that hang around the National Mosque, and certain categories of staff of the National Mosque.

The Foundation with the support of some Stakeholders of the National Mosque bought five Cows, slaughtered them and the meat was shared into portions and distributed to identifed widows and the less privileged. The Eid-el-Fitr distribution was carried out within the premises of the National Mosque, two days to the Eid celebration.

The Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, visited Eeqra Orphanage Home at Karu, Aliyatama Orphanage Home at Kabusa District, Al- Ansar Orphanage Home at Kuje. The Foundation also visited the IDP Camp at Durumi District, where used clothing and food items were distributed to the inmates.

The distribution of food items to the needy started on the 15 th April 2023 at 11:30am at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Durumi Area 1, Abuja, where 150 needy persons were provided with food package, and continued at 2:00pm, at the Conference Hall of the Abuja National Mosque, where over 430 people got packaged assorted food items. The distribution was open to all who needed food aid, regardless of their gender, tribe or religion. However, emphasis was given to the elderly, identied widows, and the physically challenged persons.

The program was executed with the help of a team of 20 volunteers and members of the Abuja National Mosque Da'awah and Welfare Foundation. These volunteers were committed to serving the community and worked tirelessly to ensure that the distribution process was carried out smoothly.

The distribution process was carried out systematically to ensure that all the beneciaries received equal and fair treatment. Each recipient was given a number, and they were called in numerical order to collect their food items.
In conclusion, the food distribution to the needy during the holy month was successful. The locations that were selected for the distribution – IDPs Camp at Durumi, the Abuja National Mosque Conference Hall, Kuje and Mararaba Orphanages, afforded the Foundation the opportunity to provide food aid to the needy in these locations. A signicant number of needy people beneted. Most of the recipients expressed their gratitude to Abuja National Mosque Da'awah and Welfare Foundation, and through the Foundation, various donor individuals and agencies for the support they received. We believe that this program has made a positive impact on the less privileged in the Ummah and hope to organize similar programmes in nearest future, in accordance with the Foundation's strategic objectives.
